School of Finance, IICA successfully launched 11^th batch of 45-hours Training Programme on Commercial Mediation & Negotiation on November 16, 2020. The programme is being attended by 30 participants of diverse background including judges, lawyers, bureaucrats, professionals (CA, CS, Engineers) and representatives from IBBI and SEBI. The Programme is designed to sensitize the participants to a range of issues surrounding the dynamics of disputes and to the advanced models of negotiation and mediation designed to aid in their resolution. The programme covers topics like negotiation (commercial and cross cultural), mediation (pre and post litigation mediation), status of mediation across the globe, cost of conflict, understanding disputes and understanding effective communication, psychology and body language in dispute resolution besides mock mediation sessions.

School of Competition Law and Market Regulation, IICA is pleased announce the commencement of 5th Batch of Advanced Professional Course in Competition Law & Market Regulation. The Course has received a great response. The Advanced Professional Course has 20 participants, from various spheres of the industry. Advanced Professional Course has participants from Indian Economic Services, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, partners from law firms, students, practicing advocates, etc.

Shri. Sunil Mehta, Non-Executive Chairman at YES BANK, for conducting a wonderful session on Project Shashakt (Committee Report on Resolution of Stressed Assets). Sir explained the thought behind the suggestions provided in the report and gave us an insight into the areas that need to be strengthened for the overall development of the banking sector.

The event was organised for the students of Graduate Insolvency Programme.
The discussion covered not only the legal aspects but also the practical implications of imposing restrictions on Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs). The general perception of the panellists was that the ARCs should be allowed to put in additional equity and apply as a resolution applicant subject to the broad framework within which ARCs operate. This would, to a great extent, help in the resolution of the NPA problem that is plaguing the banking sector in India.

Paul Omar, Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University, delivered a comprehensive presentation to the students of Graduate Insolvency Programme.

He discussed the core principles of business insolvency, as suggested by EBRD, in the recently published "EBRD Core Principles of an Effective Insolvency System - September 2020".

Mr. Richard Colegave the students of GIP an insight into the broad framework of the Bankruptcy Laws in the US. His lecture was primarily focused around the Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Prof. Aurelio Gurrea-Martínez, Assistant Professor of Law at Singapore Management University, for the insightful lecture he delivered to the students of the Graduate Insolvency Programme.

He discussed the various steps taken by Singapore to establish itself as a 'Restructuring Hub', especially in light of the recently enacted Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act (the IRDA), 2018.

Over 2 days of lectures, Prof. Nikolaos discussed the various aspects of the ‘UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency’ and the ‘European Insolvency Regulation’. He also spoke about the business rescue structure in the UK and discussed some real life case studies with the students, thereby providing them practical insights into the areas covered in class.
