Centre for Independent Directors, IICA organized CEO Dialogue with Mr. Vipin Sondhi program for the members of Independent Director’s Databank on Friday 09th July, 2021.

The main objective of this complimentary event was to introduce Databank members with fundamental knowledge of ESG concept & Responsible business practice.

The Program commenced on Friday 09th July, 2021 at 04:00 PM with the theme address of Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head, School of Corporate Governance and Public Policy & Nodal Officer, Centre for Independent Director, IICA. He briefed the participants about Mr. Vipin Sondhi and his legacy of corporate leadership.

Principal speaker:

Vipin Sondhi is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja group.

Mr. Sondhi shared his experience as the leader of a large manufacturing company. He started with brief history of evolution of this concept of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) and adaption around the world by dominant companies. How this concept has become so relevant in today’s business strategy? And what initiatives are his organizations taking to ensure responsible & ethical business practices? Mr. Sondhi discussed these points in very informative way. How independent directors should guide their organizations, was also the part of discussion.

There were lots of questions from participants and Mr. Sondhi gave answers to all these queries with the satisfaction of the participants.

Program concluded with the valedictory address of remarks of Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head, School of Corporate Governance and Public Policy & Nodal Officer, Centre for Independent Director, IICA. Centre for Independent Directors coordinated the event and ensured successful delivery of the program.

The registration process of 6th Batch of Advanced Professional Course in Competition Law & Market Regulation under School of Competition Law & Market Regulation at IICA has been completed and closed on 20th July, 2021. A total of 18 participants have registered including officials from TRAI, Advocates and students. The online sessions in the 6 month course is tentatively scheduled from 07th August, 2021 on weekends.

The bridge course organized was purported to ensure that students from varied disciplines would be placed on a similar footing prior to the initiation of the course. Mr. Kapileshwar Bhalla’s lessons on accountancy and finance provided students coming from a legal background an enriched understanding of the basics of these subjects. The sessions with sir helped to bridge the gap between lawyers and students of finance.

Dr. Pyla Narayana Rao with his expertise in law, specifically insolvency, helped students appreciate the expanding contours of the subject. The methodology used by the sir encouraged students to further research on the subjects of law and to have a contemporary understanding of the evolving area of insolvency and bankruptcy. The lectures surrounding the difference in various legal systems sparked the critical thinking skills of the students of GIP who were able to appreciate the scholastic roots of varied legal systems.

The placement season for the foundation batch of Graduate Insolvency Programme (Batch 2019-21) commenced with the start of Trimester-IV of the course. Organizations such as ARCs, banks, consultancies, IPEs and law firms, participated in the placement process and made offers either during the Campus Placement or as Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs).Till date, these recruiters had hired a total of 24 out of the 30 students who were pursuing placements, at an average CTC of INR 15.6 Lakhs per annum. 4 students have been placed with CTC of INR 20 Lakhs plus .
