School of Competition Law and Market Regulation at Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (Think Tank for Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India) in collaboration with Forum of Indian Regulators successfully organized virtual colloquium for the serving Chairpersons of the Central Sector Regulatory Member Organizations of FOIR on the theme “Stakeholders Engagement in Regulatory Decision Making” on 23rd of March, 2021 over Blackboard LMS. The program provided a platform for the chairpersons to indulge in discourse on various aspects of stakeholder’s engagement in regulatory decision making, challenges faced therein and a way forward to it.

The panel in the colloquium comprised of, Mr. P.K Pujari, Chairperson, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC); Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairperson, Competition Commission of India (CCI); Dr. P. Vaghela, Chairman, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI); Shri. T. S. Balasubramanian, Chairman in-Charge, Tariff Authority for Major Ports (TAMP) & Shri Satpal Garg, Member, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Body (PNGRB). The guest speaker of the day was Mr. Andrew Williams-Fry, Director, Economic Regulation (Interim), Thames Water & Board Member, Regulatory Policy Committee, London, UK.

School of Finance, IICA successfully conducted “5-Day Training Programme on IndAS and Governance” for Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service Group 'A' Probationers from March 15-19, 2021.The training was designed to provide an overview of IndAS and Governance, with specific reference to postal and telecom sector. The programme covers topics like conceptual and regulatory framework, role and responsibilities of independent directors, corporate social responsibility, functioning of board, responsible governance and various Indian accounting standards & schedule III to the Companies Act 2013. Participants highly appreciated the programme especially pedagogy, case discussion and interaction with knowledgeable faculty.

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in association with the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) concluded 4 Days Online Program on High Impact Corporate Governance: Excellence of CSR, Sustainability & Responsible Business Conduct for the senior/middle level executives of CPSEs.

The programme, organized by the IICA School of Corporate Governance and Public Policy (SoCGPP) witnessed engaged participation from 50officials working on senior/middle level in CPSEs.

Program helped the participants to strengthen and improve their overall understanding of Corporate Governance, Framework of CG, Best practices in local and global, current issues and challenges of Corporate governance in India.

It will also help participants to improve their understanding on CSR, emerging mandates from government and regulators regarding CSR, Developing of CSR strategy, and how to monitor, measure and report on CSR, Challenges in program implementation and use of effective M&E etc.

This program was offered in a live virtual format. The program was built to deliver a rich experience that’s comparable to in-person programs. Participants had an opportunity to engage with experts and faculties in live discussions and lecture sessions.

Program started with the opening remarks of Dr. Niraj Gupta and In-augural address by Dr. Nitin Aggarwal, Director – Department of Public Enterprises.

School of Finance organised Master Class on “International Cost of Capital” for the participants of IICA Valuation Certificate Programme on March 13, 2021. During session, Mr John J Barton introduced participants about various models like relative volatility model, country credit rating model, country yield spread model and Damodaran model. Mr Barton also covered the topic, Capital Assets Pricing Model and discussed about risk factors of emerging, frontier and developed countries. Participants appreciated the valuable insights from the session which would be straightaways implemented at their respective work areas.

The School of Corporate Governance & Public Policy & Centre for MSME organised IICA-DPE four Days Online Programme on Procurement (Policy & Procedures based on GFR, GeM, E-Procurement & Arbitration) and Contract Management for Good Governance: Challenges in Implementation” on 8, 9, 10 & 12 March, 2021.

IICA has designed online training program to provide intensive training to the purchasing & supply managers, procurement managers, project managers, commercial managers, contract managers, Finance Officers and supply controllers of the Central Public Sector undertakings to provide insights on major issues like intricacies in Public Procurement, Enhancing efficiency of Public and Private sector through effective supply chain management, evolving trends in public procurement, e-procurement, Government guidelines & policies, regulatory issues and its practical aspects as well.

The programme organized by the IICA witnessed engaged participation from 30 Professionals (Chief Manager, DGM, AGM, Manager, Dy. Manager, Deputy Engineer, Assistant Manager, Senior Technical Officer, Senior Manager, Sr. P&C Officer, Procurement & Contract Officer) involved in public procurement from major Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) / Organizations / Offices under various Ministries of Govt. of India.

The capacity building programme started with opening remarks by Mr. Rajesh Batra, Head-Centre for MSME / IP&CC, IICA, Theme Address by Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head – School of CG&PP and Inaugural Address by Mr. S.K. Jain, Joint Secretary-Department of Public Enterprises on 8th March, 2021.

The programme was concluded on 12th March, 2021 with closing session & remarks presided by Mr. Rajesh Puri, Dy. Director- Department of Public Enterprises.

The participants appreciated the programme content, faculty and training sessions.

School of Finance organised Master Class with expert from International Institute of Business Valuers (IIBV) on “How different valuers can Co-operate Together”. Mr Anton Lezhja, Chair IIBV joined participants of IICA Valuation Certificate Programme on March 05, 2021 for interaction. The purpose of conducting session was to brief the participant about the need of valuers in different valuation engagement, who need to ask first on duty to response client’s request for valuation, valuation approaches and what peculiarities need to pay attention, similarities and differences in real estate and business valuation. Mr Anton also discussed about yields and discount rates with respect to real estate appraiser and business valuer. The participants appreciated the Master Class and enjoyed the interaction with the expert faculty.

School of Finance organised Master Class on “Economic Survey 2021” for participants of IICA Valuation Certificate Programme on March 02, 2021. Mr Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor, DEA, MoF along with their team members namely; Ms Aakanksha Arora, Deputy Director, DEA, MoF and Mr Naveen Bali, Consultant, DEA, MoF joined participants for interaction. During session, participants were briefed about introductory framework and thinking process – how to make decision policies in extreme uncertainties especially in current Covid 19 situation. Participants were also familiarized about various approaches and how India went through the whole transition of handling Covid 19 crisis especially in economic front, counter cyclical fiscal policies and debt dynamics.

The Centre for MSME, IICA in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has successfully conducted the Series # 3 Virtual (Online) Capacity Building Program – “Role of Business Membership Organizations: Supporting MSMEs in New Approaches & Strategies to enhance Global Competitiveness” held from 24 February, 2021 – 6 March, 2021 under the German Bilateral Development Cooperation Project on “Programme for Modernisation and Innovation Promotion in MSMEs in India (MSME INNO), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH” witnessed engaged participation from 25 industry leaders representing major industry associations / chambers.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has partnered with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME), Government of India for the implementation of the Programme for Modernisation and Innovation Promotion in MSMEs in India.

The programme objective is to equip BMO Managers / Senior Office Bearers from BMOs with strategic thinking skills and administrative techniques for stimulating local entrepreneurs to invest in and manage new businesses and industries that will efficiently compete in national and international markets and thereby enabling the BMO Managers to effectively take up operational roles towards managing various activities like events, information dissemination, Government advocacy etc. for promoting interest of MSME members.

The online capacity building programme was started with welcome address & opening remarks by Mr. Rajesh Batra - Head Centre for MSME/ IP&CC, IICA and Shri Sarabjot Singh Saini - Technical Expert (Innovation Promotion in MSMEs), GIZ GmbH.

The programme was concluded on 6th March, 2021 with closing session & remarks presided by Mr. Rajesh Batra, Head Centre for MSME/ IP&CC, IICA.
