The Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy, IICA organized a web talk on “International Insolvency Law in India: A NonIndian View of Designing the Cross Border Insolvency Regime” with Prof. Dr. Bob Wessels, University of Leiden, Leiden Law School, The Netherlands on September 25, 2020.

He spoke about the challenges being faced by countries like the Netherlands and India due to the absence of a well-developed formal cross-border insolvency framework and also highlighted the issues regarding recognition and reciprocity in case of cross-border insolvencies.

Over the past week, the students of GIP had series of lectures on negotiation, mediation and arbitration by Prof. Ylli Dautaj, Managing Partner, D.E.R. Juridik. The students also had the opportunity to receive lectures from Prof William Fox, a distinguished Attorney and Professor of Law for more than 45 years.

They shared anecdotes from their real life experiences and highlighted how the theories of negotiation, mediation and arbitration are actually put into practice. We thank both of them for the insightful sessions on the above mentioned topics.

On 25th of September, 2020 Mr. Sandeep Negi, Director, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd, conducted a special session on a real life case study of a steel manufacturing company in insolvency proceedings. He highlighted the issues that crop up during insolvency proceedings and also spoke about the innovative solutions that are required in order to address these tough times.

The students of GIP had the privilege of having an interesting session with Ms. Khushboo Vaish (Senior Director) and Mr. Soham Chakraborty (Senior Manager) at Alvarez & Marsal, India, on September 21, 2020. It was an insightful session and students were quite fascinated with case study on Restructuring and Management of distressed assets undertaken as part of the expert session.

The students of GIP had the privilege of having an interesting session with Shri P.R. Ramesh, Former Chairman, Deloitte India on September 18, 2020. He spoke about how technology is bringing about a tectonic shift in the way businesses are operated and highlighted the importance for professionals to stay relevant through the constant process of unlearning and relearning.It was a delight to learn from his experiences and we look forward to having him back soon.

The Centre for Business and Human Rights, IICA has launched India’s first Three Months Online Certificate course on Responsible Business Conduct Course and has organized the CEO Panel Discussion with Mr. Suresh Narayanan, CMD, Nestle India and Mr. R Mukundan, MD, Tata Chemicals and, Mr. Shankar Venkateswaran, Adjunct Faculty, IICA. The speakers highlighted that it is not just “nice” for companies to integrate Responsible Business Practices but also makes business sense to do so. Further, the speaker mentioned that it is important for companies to embrace responsible business practices within their organisation culture in order to grow in a sustainable way.

The need for CSR professional with rigorous and hands-on experience and capacity has become ever so more important than before. In realising the burgeoning need of trained CSR Professionals, NFCSR-SoBE, IICA proudly launched the Batch VI in ICP in Strategic CSR with the inaugural session on this Saturday, 5 September 2020 on the occasion of Teachers Day.

The inaugural session of the course was hosted online with participation from companies such as IOCL, PowerGrid, NTPC, MCL along with CSR practitioners, consultants in the field of CSR. The session was opened by Course Coordinator Ms. Sudha Rajagopalan, Senior Consultant, SoBE, NFCSR and Course Director, Dr. Garima Dadhich, Associate Professor SoBE, NFCSR with the Keynote address by Mr. Anil Swarup, Former Secretary, GoI and Special Address by Ms. Gayatri Nair Lobo, ATE Chandra Foundation.

The inaugural session built context for the Nine Month Course in Strategic CSR. The course will provide with a unique blend of immersive pedagogy, interdisciplinary curriculum and experiential learning from industry experts to the participants enabling value in aligning business goals with a greater social purpose.

The 9-month ICP in Strategic CSR course had a session on "Concept of CSR in Indian Context - Section 135 of Companies Act, 2013". Dr. Dadhich in a highly interactive session decoded the CSR Law, Schedule VII, the recent amendments and touched upon the various aspects that were discussed in the High-Level Committee report. The participants from various PSUs like IOCL, Powergrid, MCL, NTPC and various other organisations deliberated upon the concepts of Individual Social Responsibility (ISR), Philanthropy, employee volunteerism etc.

Mr. Pradeep Bhargawa, President Mahratta Chambers of Commerce and Industries, delivered the session on Gandhian Concept of Trusteeship and Evolution of CSR in India.

Through the session, he introduced the participants to the concept of CSR and explained in detail the ideas behind philanthropy and how philanthropy embraces the Daan, Deeksha and Bhiksha and why CSR may be treated as "Kartavya" in a very unique narrative. The session served as an excellent foundation for the participants aspiring to make a career in CSR

KRC, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) – has adopted My Library On Fingertips (MyLoft) application to provide seamless connectivity to eResources of its library. With the implementation of MyLoft App, students, research scholars and faculty members of IICA would get benefitted.

Launching through a virtual ceremony organized on Friday, September 4, 2020, Dr. Sameer Sharma, Director General & Chief Executive Officer of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, said, “With launching of MyLOFT students, researchers and faculty members will be able to access institute subscribed eResources from anywhere, anytime.” Appreciating the move of adopting a new normal policy during the outbreak of Covid-19 and to facilitate online access of the e-resources seamlessly, Dr. Sharma said, “Head of Knowledge Resource Centre of the institute has taken an appropriate initiative to launch mobile app-based services to transform the physical library of IICA into a digital library where subscribed eBooks, newspapers, magazines, journals, audio, videos etc have been made available for our vast users.”

After the launch, Dr. Lata Suresh, Head of Knowledge Resource Centre of IICA, said, “With the launch of MyLOFT during the pandemic of Coronavirus, the KRC services would be accessible to the students, researchers and faculty members. The app would allow the users to access, preserve and share e-content anytime and from anywhere.

My Library on Fingertips (MyLOFT), is a mobile and web app that enables users to discover, access, save and organize library subscribed eResources and digital content of professional and personal interests at one place. The app also facilitates students, researchers, faculties, and library officials to organize and manage subscribed eResources from a single location

The KRC also subscribed the Anti-Plagiarism Software URKUND. IICA Knowledge Resource Centre has provided all the digital services uninterrupted during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Users can access the resources remotely with the KRC-RemoteXs facility. Apart from the subscribed the some other databases were also provided to the users during the Covid period on complimentary basis by the publishers.

In addition to above mentioned databases KRC has provided 40+ Open Access e-Resources Links, J-Gate.

KRC is providing Online KRC Membership and support for accessing digital content to the users. Also providing full-text e-resources to the individual users as per their request. KRC is managing e-newspaper and magazine service to its users on daily/weekly basis. The Institutional repository developed on open source software Dspace now has more than 1185+ books, articles, case studies etc on various subject areas of Corporate Affairs which is being used by the users for the academic and research purpose. KRC is also managing email campaigns to alumni about institute’s ongoing webinars, panel discussions and current course curriculum.
