School of Corporate Governance & Public Policy, IICA organised Two Days E-MDP on Governance of CSR Initiatives: The Role of Independent Directors & CSR Leaders on 30-31 July 2020 for the senior professionals of private and public sector companies.

The main objective of the program was to address the importance of governance for developing high impact leadership of Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives of the companies.

Program has witnessed participation of 35 CSR professionals from 25 companies.

The Program commenced on 30 July 2020 with the theme address of Program Director Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head School of Corporate Governance and Public Policy. He briefed the participants about the importance of CSR Initiatives in view of it being an important part of the governance framework of a company. The program design covered the aspects on CSR regulatory, practice and governance frameworks for achieving highest possible level of impacts on the stakeholders.

Main emphasis of the program was to make participants learn about Current regulatory framework of CSR, How these frameworks are developed, Essence of National guidelines on Responsible Conduct, How to resolve challenges arise during the CSR Program Delivery, Accounting and taxation in CSR, CSR strategy and reporting and how to measure the effectiveness of CSR through various measures and indicators.

Program concluded with the valedictory address of remarks of Dr. Niraj Gupta. Mr. Manoj Singh, SRA – SoCGPP coordinated the event and ensured successful delivery of the program.

National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (NFCSR), Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) organised a webinar on the topic “Addressing the Crisis through Solidarity and Partnership” on 17 July 2020 at 4:30 PM - IST. The webinar registration details were shared across social media platforms in various CSR, Sustainability, Academia and other relevant groups. A total of 210 participants across sectors registered for the webinar. The webinar was hosted on IICA’s online platform BB and attended by the registered participants. The webinar continued for 90 minutes and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Garima Dadhich. The webinar featured Honorable Mr. Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs GoI, Mr. Anshu Gupta, Founder Director Goonj, Mr. Amit Chandra, Chairman, Bain Capital India and Ms. Madhu Khetan Programme Director, PRADAN. The webinar made use of audio-visuals and proved to be interactive. The participants engaged through a chat window provided on the online platform. The participants’ online questions were taken together by the moderator and were answered by the speaker at the end of the session.

The virtual dialogue shed light on how Public-Private Partnerships can be envisaged as an ideal proposition for involving the private sector as well as civil society organizations in the national development agenda. There is a need to aim at categorizing developmental PPPs according to the thematic areas mentioned under the CSR law – aligned with Sustainable Development Goals in order to support shared goals, pool funding, resources and shared value. The virtual dialogue successfully highlighted that a lot has been done, but a lot more still needs to be done and suggested that going forward, the Government along with civil society organizations and the private sector needs to undertake more concerted efforts to revive the credibility of the PPP framework and build capacity within various institutions for PPP implementation.

School of Finance, IICA successfully launched first batch of India’s first practitioner centric valuation programme on July 01, 2020. The programme consists of 20 modules to be delivered in 3 levels over 11 months to offer participants a wholistic integrated valuation perspective. The programme has got overwhelming response with more than 85 participants including MDs, CEOs, CFOs, board members, independent directors, registered valuers, insolvency professionals, ICLS Senior Officials, bankers, lawyers and foreign participants. The delivery would be through a pool of practitioners, regulators and academicians from India and abroad.

The participants of the 3 months Online ICP in Implementing CSR Projects have progressed to the further modules in implementing impactful CSR Projects. Out of the total session, two high-value sessions were undertaken by internal and external faculty and facilitator respectively.

Head NFCSR, Dr. Garima Dadhich delivered a session on "Dovetailing Corporate Governance and CSR: NGBRC" in the 3-month ICP in Implementing CSR Project Certificate Course. The session highlighted theory and policy level imperative as well as relevance for incorporating Responsible Business Practices. The session discussed the possibilities of the National Guidelines for Responsible Business Conduct for ensuring greater sustainability and purpose-driven businesses.


Mr. Anjani Kumar Sharma, Co-founder & Director - Southern Accountability & Governance Alliance (SAGA) delivered a highly relevant session on “Reporting Framework and Evaluation” in the 3-month ICP in Implementing CSR Project Certificate Course. Through the session types and role of NGOs for CSR was understood along with different ways in providing CSR funds. The session carefully studied the legal and reporting frameworks. The benefits of CSR reporting and governance and project management were also discussed.
