Associate Professor
Dr. Rao is an Associate Professor with School of Corporate Law at IICA. He completed LL.M. and Ph.D. from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. Prior to Joining IICA, Dr. Rao has assisted the M.K. Nambyar SAARC Law Centre at NALSAR University of Law as a Research Associate from 2009 to 2013. He was the co-editor of the M.K. Nambyar SAARC Law Centre newsletter and assisted the Centre in conducting International Conferences, National Workshops and Monthly Seminars. He has taught Comparative Corporate and Competition Laws and International Commercial and Business Laws to Post Graduate students at NALSAR. He also worked as an Assistant Professor at School of Law, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam from 2013 to 2014. Assistant Professor
Dr. Surbhi Kapur is a trained legal professional, having more than seven years of professional experience, working as an academic and a legal researcher with the High Court of Delhi, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Central Information Commission (CIC), and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).She is an alumnus of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, Hyderabad and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, India, wherein she held an outstanding academic record being adjudged as the University Topper and highest CGPA holder. She qualified the UGC- NET exam in Law in the year 2013. Dr Kapur hasalso been a Visiting Scholar at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Pace University, United States of America (USA); andassociated with research at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands). She has an extensive work experience in the area of international trade and commercial laws.
Prior to joining the School of Corporate Law, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), she worked as a Senior Research Associate (Law) with the Office of the Executive Director, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) relating to the Divisions such as Legal Affairs, Research, and International Affairs. At IBBI, she contributed in, inter alia, deliberationsconcerning various policy formulations of corporate laws, more particularly, insolvency and bankruptcy laws. She periodically contributed to the contents and reviews for jurisprudence comprised in the Annual Reports and quarterly Newsletters published by the IBBI. She has also worked as a Research Fellow with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) under the Department of Commerce, Government of India, handling issues pertaining to international trade in educational services at the graduate level under different modes of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). She has also served as an Assistant Professor (Law) at the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi- NCR Campus, and as a Teaching Assistant at the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
Dr Kapur has authored and presented articles and research papers in both national as well as international journals and conferences on the themes of, inter alia, insolvency and bankruptcy laws, international food law and policy, commercial laws. In February, 2020, she was nominated for the Twenty-third Appreciation Course on Legislative Drafting by the IBBI hosted by the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (ILDR), Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. Shealso contributed in the reviewing and vetting of the six volumes of Technical Manuals prepared by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group.In 2019, she was selected to be a part of the first Indian Delegation of two at the INSOL Europe Academic Forum and Annual Congress, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. She recently authored the ‘Country Report for India’ for INSOL Europe Coronavirus Tracker of Insolvency Reforms, published by Lexis Nexis.She is also a certified Mediator in all areas of conflict prevention and resolution having completed the “Online 40 Hours Certification Programme in Mediation” from the Indian Law Institute, Maadhyam - Council for Conflict Resolution and SAARC LAW- India;Currently, she is serving as an Editorial Reviewer with the prestigious Indian Law Institute Law Review (ILILR), a peer reviewed journal of the Indian Law Institute, listed in the UGC Care List and a trainer for regulatory officials at various institutions across India.
