Mandate

1.   To engage in study, research and capacity building in financial and regulatory issues relevant to business entities and professionals.

2.   To conduct short term programmes, trainings and workshops on regulation of corporate financial disclosures.

3.   To carry out academic programmes covering application of and compliance with accounting standards, convergence with international accounting standards, financial reporting and disclosures and related corporate law and corporate governance issues, the role and nature of audit, emerging trends in trade in accountancy services, emerging issues in capital markets, financial risk management including derivatives.

4.   To provide financial reporting and regulation modules for the teaching and training programmes of other Schools/Centres of IICA.

Financial reporting

To work as an agent to government on the following functions of NFRA -

1.   Recommend accounting and auditing policies and standards to be adopted by companies for approval by the Central Government;

2.   Monitor and enforce compliance with accounting standards and auditing standards;

3.   Oversee the quality of service of the professions associated with ensuring compliance with such standards and suggest measures for improvement in the quality of service;

Valuation

Design the following courses and specify syllabus, standards of education and manner of delivery. The goal would be to imbibe a sense of professionalism and inculcate appropriate behaviour, in addition to providing theoretical and practical knowledge and skills.

1.   national valuation programme, a four-year integrated full-time professional course, which includes an internship of one year,

2.   graduate valuation programme, a two-year full-time professional course on valuation,

3.   limited valuation programme, a four-hundred-hour professional course, and

4.   Two types of continuing professional education. The first is the examination, which a professional is required to pass at periodic intervals. The second is the certifications where a professional obtains certificates for participation in specified learning programme (seminars, conferences, workshops, training, etc.) for specified hours.
